SD58 approves list of capital projects

The SD58 Board has approved a list of both major and minor capital projects for the district.

The most expensive item on the list is the expansion of Merritt Bench Elementary. The addition of a new gym and five classrooms is estimated to cost just over $7.5 million.

Some other projects on the list are a new pit house at Nicola Canford, a new hallway and science room renovations at MSS, and a shop additions at CMS.

The full list totals $11,130,000.

The smaller project around the district total just shy of $3 million. It includes safety concerns about hydro wires at Bench, two new playgrounds around the district, and multiple HVAC replacements.
