Climate change & affordability being relayed to Eves across the riding

In 2019, the Liberals and Mary Ann Murphy finished second in riding but fell to Dan Albas by almost 15,000 votes or 22.92%.
This year, the Liberals will be represented by Sarah Eves as they look to unseat the three-term incumbent Conservative.
Eves recently sat down with Q101 News to discuss her first foray into the political world and what issues she’s been hearing at the doors.
“It’s been really fun talking with people and hearing what they want to do around the riding,” began Eves. “Across the whole riding, especially with the wildfires we had this Summer, climate change has been coming up a fair amount, and what specific strategies a Liberal Government would do help with the transition to a greener economy and dealing with forest fires and flooding.”
A theme being relayed to almost all the candidates in the riding has been affordability.
“Housing comes up a lot, affordability around housing but also access to it,” added Eves.
“The second piece really is around childcare, I was speaking to people in Lower Similkameen and they don’t even have a childcare facility because it closed. Childcare is another big issue that comes up,” said Eves.
While some have questioned the timing of the election call, Eves believes the choice is clear.
“We’re having (the election) because in front of people is a very clear choice. The Liberal party has a real clear plan to address climate change but at the same time support workers. They’re going on their track record, which is really good about supporting Canadians and being there for Canadians during the pandemic and making sure we end the pandemic and recover strong. The most important thing is people get out and vote and support the Canada they want to see in the future,” concluded Eves.
