B.C. records 774 more cases of COVID-19; 81 per cent of all hospitalizations among unvaccinated population
VICTORIA — B.C. has recorded another 774 cases of COVID-19 Thursday (Sept. 9), with Interior Health once again leading the province in new cases.
There were 253 new cases of the virus in IH, with a total of 1,747 active cases in the health region. There are a total of 5,594 active cases in B.C.
The health ministry says there are 262 people in hospital in B.C., including 130 in intensive care.
Five more people have died of the virus — three in Fraser Health, one in Northern Health and one in Island Health. The overall COVID-19 death toll in B.C. is now 1,847.
The single-dose vaccination rate for eligible British Columbians aged 12 and older has reached 85.3 per cent, while the two-dose vaccination rate is now 77.8 per cent.
The province notes fully unvaccinated people have accounted for 70 per cent of all new cases in the past week, and 81 per cent of all hospitalizations in the past two weeks.
