Henry, Dix Roll Out Latest Covid Modelling; Focusing on Children
Dr. Bonnie Henry and B. C. Health Minister Adrian Dix rolled out the provinces latest Covid-19 modelling on Tuesday with a strong emphasis on children under 12-years of age.
With students expected back to class next week, Henry is encouraging anyone connected with youngsters under 12 to get vaccinated.
She added that about 600,000 kids in that age range are not eligible for vaccination in B.C., and even though cases in the age bracket have risen slightly and very few of them have been hospitalized, she again recommended everyone from parents to school staff and bus drivers should be fully vaccinated.
On Tuesday the province announced that 655 new cases of COVID-19, including 15 epi-linked cases have been detected. There are 6,045 active cases of COVID-19 in the province and 157,941 people who tested positive have recovered. Of the active cases, 187 individuals are in hospital and 103 are in intensive care.
The Interior Health Region again leads the Health Districts in cases of Covid, 242 new cases reported Tuesday.
The province also reported two new deaths in the province (Island Health ) for a total of 1816 deaths in BC.
