Every weekend Q101 publishes the ‘Week That Was’ highlighting some of the most interesting news stories of the week.
This week Merritt was talking about the ongoing wildfire situation across BC, a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the Interior, and Shackan residents still away from home.
Brenda Creek fire being held
The Brenda Creek wildfire which has been burning south of the connector is being downgraded from a wildfire of note.
As of August 5, the wildfire is now classified as being held.
Province working to boost vaccination rates, as Interior Health region records 234 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours
The BC Government says vaccination rates in the province received a boost this week, thanks to the ‘Walk-in Wednesday’ program.
Shackan residents anxious to return home
Residents of the Shackan Indian Band have been on evacuation order since July 22 due to the Lytton wildfire.
The Lytton Creek fire has burned 51,336 hectares at last report.
