Sloan in sixth spot at Barracuda Championship

Merritt’s Roger Sloan is in contention at the PGA Barracuda Championship after round one.
The event is the only PGA tournament to utilize the modified stableford scoring system.
POINTS STRUCTURE
Modified Stableford awards points based on the number of strokes taken at each hole. Scoring at the Barracuda Championship will look like this:
• Double Eagle: 8 points
• Eagle: 5 points
• Birdie: 2 points
• Par: 0 points
• Bogey: -1 point
• Double Bogey or more: -3 points
After round one Sloan is at +11 points, five points behind the American leader Joel Dahmen (+16).
The Merrittonain needs a great tournament to move up the FedEx Cup ranking from his current 137 into the top-125 to secure a tour card for next season.
Sloan tees off for round two at 11:40 am.
