Economic Development Committee recommends installation of new public washrooms
Merritt’s Economic Development Committee made several recommendations to City Council regarding access to public washrooms around town.
The recommendation, which was passed by Council at their latest meeting, called for the investigation of new washrooms at Spiritt Square, the Bailey House, and Claybanks RV Park.
“I would feel more comfortable with staff bringing back a report,” said CAO Sean Smith. “We can bring a report that will help cost things out. I would be more comfortable with that otherwise we’re getting direction to do it before you as council have costs.”
The group was also looking for the City to work with the necessary partners to provide temporary toilets at Exit 286.
The supported motion also addressed updating the existing facilities around town and providing wayfinding signage.
