Heat Warning Issued for Merritt – July 30, 2021

Heat Warning in effect for:

Temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 18 degrees Celsius are expected for the next 2 days.

A strengthening ridge of high pressure will lead to rising temperatures across interior BC. Daytime highs near 35 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 18 degrees are forecast for today and Saturday.

Relatively cooler temperatures are expected Sunday into Monday.

In Merritt, daytime highs are forecast to hit 37 of Saturday with lows of 17 overnight. Possible showers could accompany the heat wave this weekend in the Nicola Valley.

Extreme heat affects everyone. The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
