New wildfire sparks South of Merritt

The BC Wildfire Service is reporting a new wildfire has sparked to the South of Merritt.
The fire is located near Spius Creek and was first spotted on Monday (July 19).
The blaze has been able to grow to 2.1 hectares and the cause is currently unknown.
The BC Wildfire Service is reporting that the Bluey Lake wildfire East of Merritt is now being held.
The fire was first reported on Thursday (July 15), and was able to grow to 15 hectares.
The July Mountain wildfire remains at 400 hectares this morning. The fire is suspected to have been caused by lightning.
The Brenda Creek wildfire is now being estimated at 450 hectares, a small decrease from Monday due to improved mapping. Six firefighters reportedly stayed on site overnight to continue reinforcing the guards.
There is currently 292 active fire in BC, 115 are within the Kamloops Fire Centre
