MP Albas preparing for potential writ-drop
Canadians could be headed back to the polls this Fall as political parties across Canada appear to be preparing for the Liberals to drop the writ.
In Central Okanagan Similkameen Nicola (COSN), the Liberals have acclaimed Sarah Eves, and the NDP are planning a nomination meeting for early August to set their challenger.
Current Tory MP Dan Albas has heard the rumours, and his team is preparing for a potential fall election.
“I canvassed my constituents on this matter a few weeks ago and almost universally, unless you’re a hardcore partisan, nobody wants an election,” began Albas. “But if you turn on the TV is pretty obvious for anybody to see that Mr. Trudeau is going on a pre-election spending blitz. He’s popping up across the Country showering people with taxpayer money. It looks to me that he’s aiming for an election, not one that would serve Canadians needs.”
Albas was able to confirm that when the writ is dropped, he will be running for re-election in COSN.
“I’ve been very fortunate that throughout the riding I have a tremendous amount of support and volunteers who quite honestly believe that this government is not thinking in the best interests of Canadians and would love to contest another election at anytime,” said Albas.
“I am planning on running again, I have been acclaimed by my party,” added Albas. “I’m positive we need to have different policies in parliament. But we also need to have people that are willing to put their shoulder to the wheel and work towards things that Canadians can agree upon.”
