On Friday afternoon, the BC Wildfire Service was reporting a number of new fire starts in the Merritt area, likely stemming from the lightning activity on Thursday night.
The BC Wildfire Dashboard showed nine new fires to the South and to the East of Merritt, most of which were just small spot blazes.
On Monday morning, all nine fires are either extinguished or under control by fire personnel.
The largest fire in the area is approximately five miles West of Douglas Lake. That blaze is under control but was able to burn 12 hectares.
Evacuation alerts remain in place to the North of Logan Lake as well as at the Napier Lake fire.
There are currently 306 active fires in British Columbia, 101 of which are within the Kamloops Fire Centre.
