Merritt increases fire remuneration

Recently the City of Merritt approved changes to the Fire Remuneration bylaw to increase the pay for firefighters in the city.

The most recent update to the bylaw occurred back in 2017.

“This Bylaw has historically required manual updates, and would continue to do so with the changes proposed. Due to the unique situation of the last 18 months, staff anticipate keeping this bylaw under review, and seeing in the future if an auto-incrementing clause would be appropriate, and if so at what level,” said Director of Corporate Services Greg Lowis.
