The Nicola Valley Rodeo Association has been successful in receiving a large grant from the Province to upgrade the electrical systems on the property.
“The grant has come through the Community Economic Recovery Program (CERIP) which was initiated by the federal government last summer when the impact of Covid-19 on local economies became apparent. The program in BC is being administered by the Provincial Government under the Community Economic Resilience stream and will provide the Association up to $440,000 to complete the electrical upgrade,” reads the release.
The project calls for a major electrical systems upgrade, new lighting, an upgraded sound system, and the installation of further security cameras and systems to reduce recurring break-ins and vandalism and theft which has been occurring more frequently in recent years.
“The upgrade also envisions parking upgrades, RV park and camping site improvements, and related works. Robert Hack, of Hack Electrical in Merritt, has been appointed principal contractor, and the first phase of the project will involve carrying out the necessary surveys, calculating electrical requirements and working with BC Hydro to determine the sufficiency of the existing Hydro infrastructure,” continues the release.
