‘A Day to Listen’ on Q101 will share stories from Indigenous leaders, elders, and residential school survivors
Wednesday, June 30 will be a unique opportunity for listeners of Q101 to learn of Indigenous history.
All 48 Pattison Media radio stations will be part of a group of more than 400 stations across Canada participating in a program called “A Day to Listen”.
Broadcasting on the final day of National Indigenous History Month in Canada, “A Day to Listen” will share stories from Indigenous leaders, elders, and residential school survivors. The stories are meant to create a better understanding of Canada’s history as a nation and open the door to improving the process of reconciliation.
Along with music and newscasts, Q101 will air vignettes of First Nations talking about First Nations history.
Two vignettes, up to five minutes each, will air every hour from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“A Day to Listen” is being held in partnership with the Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund. The charity’s goal is to improve the lives of Indigenous people by building awareness, education, and connections between all Canadians.
Donations towards the Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund will be accepted online.
