Active transport draft plan presented
A draft of the new active transportation plan has been presented to Merritt City Council.
“The Province provided the City with a $25,000 grant, which the City matched, for the creation of an Active Transportation Plan. Active transportation includes any form of human-powered transportation, including walking, cycling, or rolling using a skateboard, in-line skates, scooter, wheelchair, or other wheel-based forms of human-powered transportation. The goal is to provide transportation options that are more affordable, better for human health and the environment, while reducing traffic congestion,” wrote Planning Manager Don McArthur.
McArthur stated that there are over 100 action items in the plan set to be completed over the next 10 years in Merritt.
Ahead of the final adoption of the plan, staff are looking for feedback from the community and council. Its expected that the plan will be approved later this month.
