The Merritt Centennials four game Island swing continues tonight in Nanaimo.

It's the first meeting of the season between the two teams, but the Cents are 1-5 against the Coastal Conference this season.

The Clippers don't visit Merritt until early February.

The trip also includes stops tomorrow in Victoria and Sunday in Alberni Valley.

All four teams the Cents face over the five days are in the bottom four of the Coast.

As tickets for next year's Mountainfest went on sale this week, the system used for selecting reserved seats and campsites has improved.

Active Mountain Entertainment President Claude Lelievre says it's being done with a computer mapping system.

Lelievre says the system is second to none and is making it much easier for people booking now for the festival in Merritt next July 7-10.

A second day of snow is blanketing the Nicola Valley today, with more in store for the weekend ahead.

With that, the message from Merritt's Bylaw Enforcement Officer Marguerite Kempin is a reminder that sidewalks have to be kept clear within 24 hours of the snowfall.

Also, shoveling snow onto roadways is against the law, so you need keep the snow on your own property.

Highway  5 - Coquihalla Highway north of Merritt is closed southbound at the  Walloper Interchange (Logan Lake Exit) due to a semi-truck and cargo van accident.

Estimated time of reopening is unknown.

Highway 5A 15 kilometres north of Merritt is now open to single lane alternating traffic with full opening expected by 9:30 this morning.
