A 34-year-old small businessman from Penticton will represent the Conservatives in Okanagan-Coquihalla in the next federal election.
Dan Albas is replacing Stockwell Day, who announced his retirement earlier this month after serving as M-P for 11 years.
Albas says he is ready for what he calls an unwanted election.
Albas beat out two other challengers, Penticton realtor Marshall Neufeld and West Kelowna businessman Rusty Ensign. The ballotting took place yesterday in Merritt and Penticton.
