Recently, Ryan Wuthe presented a ‘Buy Local’ campaign to City Council on behalf of the Merritt Chamber.
The hope is to stir up residents to support local businesses trying to survive in the new post COVID-19 world.
During the presentation, City Council voted unanimously to allocate $5,000 from the Council contingency fund to kick start the project.
Wuthe spoke to starting with using the funds to create signage for local businesses along with items like stickers, buttons, t-shirts, and reusable shopping bags all adorned with the buy local logo.
At the same meeting, the Council approved a motion brought forth by Mayor Linda Brown to create an Economic Development Committee. Residents looking to join the committee can reach out to City Hall.
