Just shy of four complete marathons.
All in one day.
And all for charity.
On June 13, Merrittonian Darius Sam will be completing a 100-mile ultra-marathon, all in the name of charity.
The 19-year-old joined Roger White to speak about his inspiration to raise funds for the Nicola Valley Food Bank.
“I visited them on Tuesday, and just waiting to get my turn to go in there was a lineup,” began Darius. “I was asking how everybody was doing, and one lady struck my heart, said ‘I’m doing well but I’m hungry.’ That right there sold me on it. I just want to make a difference in the community.”
Darius had a goal of raising $1,000 but the number has already been surpassed.
“I think we can shoot for the stars and reach upwards of $10,000,” added Darius.
As of Friday morning, the Go Fund Me had raised $2,355.
