In what Fierce Merritt founder Hugo McPherson-Ashmore is calling a Merritt first, an LQBTQ2 group has begun meeting.
“Apparently this is the first group of its kind in Merritt,” said Hugo. “Kids have been asking for a group for some time.”
Hugo mentioned that the group has been getting a good cross-section of the community with people from all walks of life including some students.
“We’re going to start doing it every Monday,” began Hugo. “So far we’ve been talking about bullying and some of the students are home-schooled because of that.”
In January the group will begin meeting weekly on Mondays at the Conayt Friendship Society from 3 – 5 pm.
Hugo also mentioned how they may do some presentations at the schools in the district.
