Teachers in BC have been without a contract since the beginning of the school year. The key topics in the negotiation with the Province include wages, class size, and class composition.
Nicola Valley Teachers’ Union President Peter Vogt joined Q101 to discuss the ongoing situation.
“I can’t comment directly, but I believe there is more than wages that are involved,” said Vogt. “We know that some of the problems are around the government's funding envelope.”
Vogt’s hands were somewhat tied in what he could say as the parties are currently in mediation.
“The BCTF (BC Teachers Federation) is having a special rep assembly this weekend,” added Vogt.
While not guaranteed, Vogt mentioned possibly having more information to share after this weekend's meeting.
