The move by City Hall to remove the parking stalls in front of the post office has been greeted by mixed reactions, to say the least.
This week, CAO Scott Hildebrand addressed some of the concerns raised, and the creation of a new spot.
“I’d like to start by thanking the community for reaching out to myself and my team,” began Hildebrand. “We have been monitoring this area since the changes and the crosswalk has been very well used and the traffic continues to move safely and efficiently.”
“We’re in the process of adding back an additional handicap parking spot to the one that already exists on Granite. This additional spot will be placed directly in front of the post office and should be in place by Friday,” added Hildebrand.
Hildebrand also mentioned expecting to hear back next week about the left-turn arrows the City has requested for the intersection of Voght and Nicola. Also, some of the line-painting may have to be completed in the spring.
“We’re open for more discussion if necessary, but we feel by what we’ve been seeing in the last week, that things have been moving very well,” concluded Hildebrand.
