For Canadians on the PGA Tour, there’s nothing quite like playing in front of thousands of canucks at the Canadian Open.
For Merrittonian Roger Sloan, while that statement remains true, the Houston Open is unquestionably in the same ballpark.
The proud Merrittonian now makes his home in Houston and is looking forward to a second home open this weekend.
“Anytime I have the opportunity to golf in front of a support group is great,” began Sloan. “Here in Houston, so much support here, it’s now my home.”
Sloan mentioned how for 27 of his 28 events this year, he’ll be staying in a hotel or at a rental property and is looking forward to just being at home.
“It’s a unique week. It’s also awesome to sleep in your own bed at an event. The opportunity to be in our own bed, drive your own car and have a normal routine is definitely welcoming,” added Sloan.
The Houston Open runs this weekend, and Sloan will be looking to shake off a missed cut last week at the Shriners Hospital for Children Open.
Three tourneys into the new PGA Tour season Sloan has missed two cuts and finished tied for 13th.
