Wildfire map June 12

Across the Province, over the past 48 hours, only two new wildfires have sparked. Both those blazes however are close to Merritt.

The first is just east of Nicola Lake. The BC Wildfire Service is reporting the approximate location as Meander Hills. As of Wednesday morning, the fire was reported to have grown to 4.0 hectares. The cause is still unknown at this time.

The second fire is extremely close to Lytton. The blaze's approximate location is 100m west of Lytton road. The cause of this fire is also unknown at this time and the blaze is being reported at 0.90 hectares.

In total there are 26 fires burning across BC, with seven active in the Kamloops Fire Centre.
