The RCMP are investigating a break-in and subsequent robbery at a construction site out at the Shackan Indian Band.

“It’s a worksite where they’re working to put in a water treatment site out at Shackan,” said RCMP Constable Tracey Dunsmore. “Somebody broke-in to their trailer and they managed to steal a few of the larger tools.”

Dunsmore added that the tools were commercial grade and it’s estimated to be approximately $10,000 worth. The robbery was not of the Indian Band themselves as they had hired a contractor to complete the work.

The timeline is not certain on when the robbery occurred as the crew was not on site for a number of days prior to reporting the incident to the RCMP.

“It’s a little but rural, it’s not visible from the highway or the band office,” added Cst. Dunsmore.

Currently the RCMP do not have any suspects in the investigation.
