An investigation is underway after a woman was killed in a fatal weekend crash along highway 97D near Highland Valley Ranch, approximately 10 km east of Logan Lake.
Police reported that an Acura Integra went down an embankment, resulting in the crash scene not being visible from the highway.
The lone female driver was ejected from her vehicle and police say she died at the scene. She has been identified and her family notified. It is not yet known if the victim died immediately or if time played a factor.
Police are working on a theory that the victim wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and may have been impaired.
Cpl Mike Halskov say there were no witnesses and the crash scene was found by an area resident on Saturday morning. It is believed that the crash occurred sometime between Friday April 12th and the morning of Saturday April 13th when the site was discovered.
The RCMP Central Interior Traffic Services and the BC Coroners Service are investigating.
Police are asking anyone who might have information and dash cam video of the incident to call the Central Interior Traffic Services in Kamloops at (250) 828-3111 and quote file 2019-1657.
