City of Merritt taking steps to improve the process for inter-community business licencing.
A motion was passed at last night's regular meeting to allow staff to bring forward three inter-community business licence agreements to Council in 2019.
Director of Corporate Services Sean Smith says the idea is to streamline the process of allowing businesses to operate in participating jurisdictions.
"Any mobile business that would get more than one license, so if they are doing work here and two other municipalities, of which there are about 40 that would be party to these three agreements, it would make their lives a lot easier. For those here in town it won't affect their lives in any way."
The City of Merritt has been invited to participate in two inter-community business licence agreements, the Okanagan Similkameen ICBL and Fraser Valley ICBL.
Staff have also engaged in talks with the province to set up an agreement for Thompson-Nicola.
