Rodeo Parade accepting entries for upcoming event

As the 66th  Nicola Valley Pro Rodeo fast approaches, organizers are still accepting applications for the 2026 Rodeo Parade happening on Friday, September 4.

After a brief hiatus due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the annual parade which returned to the Pro Rodeo in 2023.

This year’s parade will again kick off the Merritt Rodeo weekend of events which will feature events and activities that earned the Nicola Valley Pro Rodeo the distinction of 6th best small town rodeo in Canada.

Organizing committee member Jojo Massey, told Q101, that last year, approximately 35 participants entered the parade and this year, they expect even bigger results.

“We will be accepting parade entries until Thursday Sept. 3rd, ” said Massey,” This will allow us to get organized for a fun filled event.”

The Nicola Valley Pro Rodeo Parade will follow the same route as the Christmas Parade and line-up on Canford Avenue. From there, the parade will turn left onto Cleasby, then right onto Coldwater Ave., then onto Chapman St., then right onto Coutlee Ave., then left off Charters Street onto Quilchena, then end at the United Church.

“Participants can begin lining up for the parade between 4:00 pm and 5:30, with the parade officially beginning at 6:30.” Massey added.

New to the Nicola Valley Pro Rodeo Parade this year is that all registration will be done online. Registration forms can be found on the Nicola Valley Pro Rodeo Association website at https://nicolavalleyrodeo.com.

• Best Youth Group / Team / Organization or School

Immediately following this year’s parade, the rodeo grounds will come alive with “Boots N Beats” featuring music from the Windjammers beginning at 8:00 p.m.
