Lower Nicola Indian Band Issues Evacuation of property

The Lower Nicola Indian Band has issued an evacuation order for one property in the band because of the Ainslie Creek Wildfire.

Issued this morning, the evacuation order is for the Speous IR No. 8 property 2280 Sunshine Valley Road.

Those in the vicinity must evacuate immediately.

You are reminded to :

• Make sure you have all prescription medications and ID’s for your entire family
• Take a grab and go kit,
• Shut all windows and doors and do not lock them,
• Follow routes specified by emergency officials. Do not take short cuts.

The Ainslie Creek wildfire is measured at around 54,131.78 hectares in size, and suspected to be human caused.

The wildfire service 236 firefighters and 76 structure protection personnel are assigned to the Brunswick Complex.

They’re accompanied by 59 pieces of heavy equipment, 19 helicopters and an incident management team.
