BREAKING: Coldwater’s Paul’s Basin IR No.2 ordered to evacuate while main reserve placed on evacuation alert

An evacuation order has been issued for Coldwater Paul’s Basin IR No. 2, requiring residents at 12 addresses to leave immediately due. At the same time, the Band has issued an evacuation alert for their main reserve, IR No. 1, notifying residents to be prepared to leave on short notice if conditions worsen.

The properties affected include:

• 2010, 2020, 2030, 2032, 2070 and 2080 Patchett Rd.
• 2035 1000th St.
• 2040 1100th St.
• 2050 1500th St.
• 2060 1600th St.
• 2090 and 2100 2000th St.

All residents within the evacuation order area must leave immediately and follow directions from emergency personnel.

Meanwhile the Lower Nicola Indian Band has once again been put an evacuation alert for the

• Speous IR No.8
• Pipsuel IR No.3
• Nicola Mamette IR No.1

The area had been placed on evacuation alert on July 24, but rescinded last Sunday.

It has already been a very tense day in the area as evacuation orders were issued for 57 properties in Coldwater/Patchett areas in Electoral area N in the Coldwater/Patchett area.

Those properties include:

• 240 to 280 Busby Rd.
• 2060 to 2140 Suttie Rd.;
• 233 to 333 Gillis Rd.;
• 1020 to 3505 Coldwater Rd. S;
• 964 to 1627 Covert Pl.;
• 1409 to 1485 Boston Bar Trail;
• 921, 990, 2105, 2700 and 2725 Patchett Rd.;
• 2141 to 2581 Peterson Rd.; and

The TNRD also expanded its evacuation alert to include properties southwest of the City of Merritt. In total, 783 properties within Electoral Areas “M,” “I” (Blue Sky Country) and “N” (Beautiful Nicola Valley – South):

We should be clear that as of this moment  no evacuation alerts or orders for the city of Merritt at this time.

The City of Merritt’s Emergency Operations Manager Adam Hart , says BC wildfire has not recommended any alerts or orders for the city of Merritt but they continue to monitor the dynamic situation and be in touch with the TNRD and all area bands.
