More than $7,000 in cash along with bags of suspected drugs were seized during a raid in Merritt last week.
With help from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team, Merritt RCMP say officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 2800-block of Granite Avenue on Wednesday, June 3.
In a news release issued Tuesday (June 9), RCMP say drugs seized include suspected fentanyl, cocaine, MDMA, methamphetamine, illicit cannabis and psilocybin. A prohibited, unregistered handgun and contraband cigarettes were also seized.
“Our officers remain committed to addressing the impacts of illicit drugs in our community,” Merritt RCMP Staff Sgt. Joshua Roda says. “Enforcement actions like this are part of our continued efforts to disrupt drug trafficking and enhance public safety in Merritt.”
RCMP say three people were arrested following the raid, although they were later released. However, police say the investigation is ongoing and charges will be recommended to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada.
