Quilchena Creek Fire “Under Control”

The BC Wildfire service has once again reclassified the human-caused Quilchena Creek wildfire as being “under control” this afternoon.
The blaze, which was first reported on Wednesday is estimated at now at approximately 808 hectares is on the Lower Nicola Indian Band’s Hamilton Creek Indian Reserve No. 7.
The pesky fire was listed as “being held” Friday morning, after starting the day Thursday as “out of control”, then “being held” then back to ” out of control” later in the afternoon.
Meanwhile a smaller 1.8 hectares fire approximately three kilometres northeast of Stump Lake remains “under control”. That fire began April 4 and is also believed to be human caused.
