Three to appear in court after failed theft at bank ATM

Three men will be making a court appearance in August after an attempted theft from an ATM machine at a local bank failed early Monday morning.

Merritt RCMP report that front line officers responded to a report of an attempted theft at the Royal Bank branch on Quilchena Avenue in which three men were seen attempting to break into the ATM using a hatchet.

The three, who are said to be well known to the RMCP were arrested and taken into custody without incident.

The suspects are set to appear in Merritt Provincial Court on Aug. 8.
