Snowfall warning in effect for Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt until Wednesday night

Another snowfall warning is in effect for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt.

Environment Canada forecasts between 20 and 30 centimetres of snowfall for the stretch of Highway 5 between Tuesday (March 10) night and Wednesday evening (March 11).

It’s due to an upper low that will bring another round of flurries for the mountain highway.

“These heavy flurries will taper off early Wednesday morning. There will be a bit of a break before the next round of heavy flurries begin later Wednesday afternoon and continue through Wednesday night,” Environment Canada states.

The weather agency says travel on the Coquihalla Highway will be challenging during the snowfall warning as visibility will likely be reduced at times.

Drivers are reminded that the weather in the mountains can change suddenly, resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
