Family, community come together to remember Pamela Jarvis
It was standing room only on Friday as the community gathered at the Merritt Civic Centre for a memorial service for Pamela Jarvis, the 45-year-old mother of six who was murdered in the city on Dec 16.
The Jarvis children thanked the community for its love and support during this difficult time and shared moments of Pam’s life that were filled with love and compassion for everyone that she met.
“Our lives will never be the same,” said son Nathan. “She (Pamela) was our rock. She made us (her family) the most important part of her life, and we will always be grateful.”
Other family members told stories of fun times and how Jarvis was there to help people whenever there was a need.
Co-worker Treena Anderson said that Pamela was terrific at her job as a waitress at The Grand and that many of their patrons miss her smile and personality.
Meanwhile, Mark Nendick completed his 24-hour endurance run on Sunday morning, completing 402 laps, equaling a distance of 156 km. The marathon raised $3000 for the family. A special moment occurred Saturday when two of Pamela’s children joined Nendick for a lap in honour of their mom.
A reminder that Boston Pizza still has its Valentine’s Paper Hearts campaign ongoing until February 23, and the GoFundMe page for the children of Jarvis is still taking donations. To date more than $80,000 has been pledged for the family.
