Well-known runner, to participate in 24-hour marathon for family of Pamela Jarvis

A well-known runner and entrepreneur is inviting residents from Merritt and the surrounding area to help him show love, support, and raise funds for the family of Pamela Jarvis, the 45-year-old mother of six who was murdered on December 16 in the city.

Mark Nendick, owner and founder of PFN Coaching and an avid runner, will be lacing up his sneakers for a 24-hour run around Voght Park track, beginning at 8:00 am on Saturday, with hopes of running 100 miles or 160 km around the 400 metre track.

Posting on his social media page, Nendick said his goal is clear: to “ensure they (the Jarvis children) stay top of mind. ”

“They’ve recently been through a tragedy and their lives have forever been changed,” wrote Nendick.” Our community has a proven track record of coming together in the most difficult moments, but these kids will need our love forever, and I want to do my part to ensure they stay top of mind.”

Christopher Jarvis, 49, is facing a single count of second-degree murder in the death of Pamela Jarvis.

Merritt RCMP were called to a home in the city on December 16, finding Pamela Jarvis suffering from serious injuries. She was rushed to Nicola Valley Hospital but could not be saved.

Nendick is encouraging any runners who would like to join him in running for the Jarvis family to do so, or just drop by the Voght Park track anytime on Saturday beginning at 8:00 a.m.

“I invite you and your family or friends to come down and cheer me on or even walk or run a few laps with me,” Nendick added, ” Our community has been through some tough times recently, and I think finding ways to come together and moving our bodies will help our healing.”

Meanwhile, a huge crowd is expected to be at a public memorial service for Pamela Jarvis at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, at the Merritt Civic Center.
