HIGHWAY ALERT: Another snowfall warning issued for Coq to Hope, Highway 3

Environment Canada has issued a yellow snowfall warning for the Coquihalla Highway between Merritt and Hope.
The agency says a frontal system is causing the weather, with up to 45 centimeters expected before it eases this morning.
Environment Canada issued a snowfall advisory around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, stating that upwards of 30 to 40 cm is expected between this afternoon and overnight, followed by another round of precipitation on Friday.
Highways affected include:
- Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton via the Allison Pass
- Highway 5, the Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt.
The agency says travel will likely be challenging with visibility being reduced at times. Road closures are possible.
Highway 5 from Merritt to Kamloops is also reporting slippery conditions and snowfall accumulation on this highway on Thursday, Dec 18. Watch for similar conditions on Highway 5A from Merritt to Stump Lake and Highway 97C from Junction 8 to Junction 97D from Merritt to the Highland Copper Mine.
