Rain and wind warnings hamper travel this weekend

Please exercise caution as you head out onto the highways this weekend.

Environment Canada has issued a weather warning predicting up to 50 mm of rain through this afternoon(SAT) on Highway 5 south between Merritt and Hope, as well as Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton.

The weather agency says wind warnings have been issued for Merritt to Kamloops on Highway 5 and Merritt to Kelowna on Highway 97, the Connector.

Officials say to slow down when travelling today, as water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas. Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas.
