Green takes over as Merritt’s new Chief Administrative Officer

It didn’t take long for the City of Merritt to find its new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).
The City of Merritt, Mayor and members of council announced on Thursday that Rick Green has assumed the duties as the city’s new CAO, effective immediately (Oct.30), 2025.
Mr. Green, who has been serving as Acting CAO since the departure of former CAO Cynthia White earlier this month, previously held the position of Director of Public Works, Engineering, and Development Services for the City of Merritt.
Since joining the City in August 2022, Rick Green, AScT, P.L. (Eng.), has contributed extensive expertise in infrastructure development, operations management, and municipal leadership. His career spans nearly four decades and includes accomplishments in project management, financial stewardship, and advancing Indigenous cultural safety within public sector operations.
“I am honored by the confidence that Council has placed in me,” said Rick Green, Chief Administrative Officer. “I look forward to fostering an open and collaborative environment to advance the City’s strategic goals. By empowering our staff and celebrating their achievements, we can continue building a strong and resilient Merritt.”
