New photo of alleged robbery suspect released
Unmasked suspect of Merritt robbery (Merritt RCMP)
Merritt RCMP have released another photo of the suspect believed to be involved in a robbery in the downtown area last Saturday.
Blake Chursinoff of the Merritt detachment reported that at 5:58 pm on Saturday, Sept. 13, the Dollar Tree located at 2102 Quilchena Avenue was robbed by an unknown male brandishing a knife on a broom handle.
The suspect is described as a slender male, wearing a camouflage baseball hat with a skull wearing a soldier’s helmet, a dark navy hoodie, green gloves, blue jeans, and carrying a black backpack on his back and a blue bag in his hands. After robbing the store cashier at knife-point, the suspect fled out of the store, and it is believed that he ran in an easterly direction down Quilchena Avenue.
According to the memo, Merritt RCMP officers immediately surrounded the area in an attempt to locate the male or any of his belongings, but were unsuccessful.
At this time, the Merritt RCMP are asking the public to contact them if they recognize anything about the suspect photos or happen to see this male on any business or residential CCTV. They are trying to piece together information in an effort to identify their suspect.
“The public is the eyes and ears of our community. If you were in the area of the Dollar Tree last Saturday evening, around 6 pm, and happened to have dashcam or structure CCTV footage, we would really like to get that information from you,” wrote Chursinoff in the report.
Additionally, if anyone happens to see this suspect or recognizes anything about this suspect, to give us (Merritt RCMP) a phone call.”
