The Claybanks dike section will be pushed further back from the Coldwater River than initially designed after requests from the regulators and local first nation communities.
In a report presented to Merritt city council, Sean Strang, Director of Recovery Management outlined the changes, and their impact on the Claybanks RV Park property.
โThe new alignment moves it further from the river into the RV park, which affects 3 additional RV sites, for a total of 14. This realignment also requires the relocation of the water and sewer system, as well as the relocations of the existing electrical kiosk, services to the 14 sites, and 2 light posts. This is further than the originally planned relocation of only the water main and services,โ wrote Strang.
Under the adjusted design, the city went out for tender in June, securing Rock Solid Industries to complete the work.
The final permit for the project was expected to arrive last week, with the work on schedule to be completed in the 2025 window.
Despite the changes totaling $215,000, Strang reported that the project remains on budget.
