A man wanted on a warrant in Merritt has been arrested after a traffic stop in Kamloops last weekend and led to the seizure of several weapons and other items.
In a news release on Wednesday, Kamloops R-C-M-P says the incident happened on Friday, February 14, when a frontline officer noticed a black vehicle with multiple passengers inside not having a front licence plate.
The officer conducted a vehicle stop and discovered the driver had an ‘N’ license. As part of the investigation, a passenger was arrested for obstruction and later discovered to be wanted on a warrant out of Merritt.
Julian Noah Robinson, 24 years old, of Quilchena, faces six charges including obstruction, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, firearm offences, and failure to comply with a court order.
“As backup officers arrived to assist, a number of other items were located and seized by police, including a loaded handgun, loaded long-gun, cash, drugs, ammunition, and other items,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson.
The driver was later released and charged with Motor Vehicle Act and Regulation violations related to driving contrary to conditions and restrictions, improper display of a licence plate, and while impaired by drugs. A 24-hour prohibition was issued and the vehicle was impounded.
Robinson has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance, scheduled for Tuesday March 4.
