The Merritt area is expecting another influx of visitors to the region as the 2024 Bass Coast Electronic Music and Arts Festival kicks off Friday and according to organizers, this year’s event could quite possibly the biggest yet.
The four-day event will feature more than 150 acts featuring diverse music genres such as techno, house, drum and bass to dubstep with some of the biggest names in the industry performing such as Lazy Syrup Orchestra, Of The Trees and Fort Knox Five.
Merritt Mayor Mike Goetz is thrilled that Bass Coast is back again for another year.
“Having an event of this caliber come back to Merritt year-after-year certainly says something about our community,” said Goetz in a recent interview. “Council and I have had conversations with the organizers Andrea (Graham) and Liz (Thompson), and I’m just so impressed with how these ladies run this event.”
In fact the mayor is so impressed with the event that he and his wife are volunteering at the event.
“Events such as Bass Coast do so much to benefit our community, not only economically, but it shines a light on what our community have to offer other groups or organizations looking for a world class venue to host them.” Goetz added.
The festival wraps up on Monday.
