Merritt RCMP among detachments under investigation for serious harm claim

The provincial police watchdog is investigating whether local officers played a role in a serious injury.
The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIO BC) launched an investigation into an incident that saw a person suffer serious harm in the Lavington area just outside of Vernon on Saturday, June 27.
The IIO BC noted the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP were being investigated in this case, but so were officers from the Kelowna, Kamloops, and Merritt RCMP detachments.
The investigation remains open and in progress, and no specific details were made available.
The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is the provincial police watchdog tasked with investigating incidents to determine if police actions or inactions played a role in injuries or deaths.
