Merritt celebrates Canada’s 157-birthday on Monday

Hundreds were on hand to celebrate Canada’s 157th birthday on Monday as Canada Day festivities took over Rotary Park.
There were lots of games for youngsters including a bouncy castle, inflatable axe throwing, cup cakes and music by the Doug James Band.

City of Merritt Rec coordinator Vanessa Vandeweyer thanked all those who attended and all the groups and businesses who set up booths and games for the community to enjoy.
In a community email, she wrote: “Together, we made Canada Day a blast, celebrating our community and our country. I’m so grateful for each and every one of you. It was truly heartwarming to see the smiles on everyone’s faces throughout the day.”

Vandeweyer wrote that she is looking forward to next years event already.
