The City of Merritt is one of 38-local governments to receive funding to create more efficient development approvals processes.
The funds are coming from the Local Government Development Approval program that was created so that municipalities in the province can improve the internal process to speed up the delivery of homes for people living and working in the province.
The City of Merritt will receive $150-thousand dollars in funding from the agency.
Trish Mandewo, president of the UBCM, said in a statement that as B.C. continues to grown (in population) the provincial government is supporting local municipalities with funding that will help accelerate the work to implement best practices related to approvals, inspections, and more.
In total the province will shell out $4.4 million in funding in 2024.
