The countdown is on for the annual Kidney Foundation Walk happpening in Merritt this Sunday at Rotary Park.
Over the past few years, the event in Merritt has raised more than ten-thousand dollars.
Co-organizers of the now annual fundraiser, Heather and Marcus Ouimet, are hoping for another great turnout as was the case last year when nearly thirty participated in the wlak..
The Ouimets know first hand how kidney disease can effect the lives of those around you. The couple’s daughter Marissa has been diagnosed with stage five kidney disease.
Funds raised during the event will benefit those needing treatment.
“All the funds raised from our walk will go to people who are getting a transplant,” said Heather. “Many patients have to relocate to Vancouver for what can be months so these funds will help with some of the expenses.”
You can register as an individual or get a team of friends together for the event.
Those who wish to register for the walk can either do it online or on Sunday, starting at 9 a.m.
The 2.5-kilometre walk begins at 10 a.m.
