Nicola Valley residents dealing with chronic pain are encouraged to take part in a free event coming to Merritt on June 8th.
Healing Connections will be held at the Nicola Valley Arts Centre from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and will feature opportunities
for you or someone you know who suffers from chronic illness to learn what type of help is available through resources and services both locally and provincially.
Event organizer Marius Auer, says Healing Connections will be a safe space to share with topical presentations, resources, workshops and discuss issues that effect you.
“I am hoping this event becomes the point of a support group that I think has been missing in Merritt,” Auer explained. “It will serve as an in person space for people to connect over a topic I think affects a lot of people.”
In December, Auer was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and through his journey he discovered the lack of in-person support in Merritt especially for people to connect with others about their shared experiences.
” As someone recently diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, I am challenged to learn new ways to manage pain and other symptoms,” he noted. ” I find it beneficial to connect with those who are in similar situations, and I am excited to organize this event and provide that space to the community along with resources, learning, and fun.
The event supported by the United Way is free of charge and will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday June 8, at the Nicola Valley Arts Centre,2051 Voght St.
