Startling Human Remains Discovery in Upper Nicola Halts Community Centre Construction

Construction of the Quilchena Community Centre in Upper Nicola has been halted following the discovery of human remains last week. 

Band administrator Colette Sunday issued a statement on Tuesday, saying that the RCMP were notified immediately and it has been determined that the remains are not recent.

Sunday explained that with the assistance of an Archeologist on Record protocols are being implemented for the safety of the remains. 

Meanwhile the Upper Nicola Band is inviting UNB  members get an update on the project during a meeting on Thursday May 9, at 1 p.m. at the Quilchena Community Centre in Upper Nicola.
