Merrittonians invited to UBC Community Salmon Dialogue
Salmon Dialogue Session | University of British Columbia
MERRITT — Merrittonians are urged to come on out and share their ideas regarding Salmon restoration.
The dialogue will take place in Merritt on May 9th in Comfort Inn & Suites from 9am to 12pm.
University of British Columbia Institute for Oceans and Fisheries will conduct 14 Community Salmon Dialogues across BC seeking input from all community members about the future of Pacific salmon.
The Community Salmon Dialogue meetings welcome anyone who is concerned about the future of Pacific salmon and would like to share their knowledge and listen to others.
All meetings will be audio-recorded to enable meeting summaries and ensure accuracy of key points and after the meetings are concluded UBC will provide a final report to governments, media, and participants.
Meeting times and locations can be seen here —> (click link) —> (http://bit.ly/salmondialogues).

For the participants who are unable to join the meetings, the organization will soon post a form submission option on their project website to give them an opportunity to share their views and knowledge to ensure there is no loss of community input.
Everyone is welcome to join both in person and the written form.
The event will begin with a brief introductory presentation.
The next part of the event will be the project team providing certain prompts regarding salmon restoration and the participants sharing their views and knowledge.
Sharing views and knowledge is not mandatory and anyone who would like to listen to our community discussions is also welcome.
At the end of the prompts if the participants’ views and concerns were not covered they are welcome to share different topics.
